Topics getting the most attention in Baton Rouge public meetings, ranked by how frequently they come up.
Discovery Baton Rouge school expansion traffic and drainage
The Discovery school wants a 20,000-square-foot middle school classroom building on South Harrell's Ferry Road, but neighbors say carpool lines already block driveways for five minutes at a time and back up traffic to the fire station 500 feet away. The case was deferred 30 days so the school can hold a community meeting.
Lordia Lordia's Grove subdivision on Hooper Road
A major residential subdivision with a private street is proposed on Hooper Road. It's been deferred repeatedly, so neighbors are still waiting to see the full plan.
Heyday Baton Rouge high-density apartments near Burbank Drive
A planned unit development would bring high-density multi-family housing near Burbank Drive, paired with a Major Street Plan change shrinking the Burbank right-of-way. Both cleared the commission 9-0 and go to the council.
Bennett family property ownership dispute
Kevin Bennett, a 25% interest holder, objected to a subdivision plat at 12707 Port Hudson-Pride Road, saying he got no notice and is petitioning to partition the land. Commissioners said ownership fights are civil matters and approved the plat anyway.
Delmont Economic Development District
A new district within Baton Rouge could levy its own sales, use and hotel occupancy taxes to pay for economic development projects in the Delmont area. Introduced by Councilman Hurst; hearing August 12.
LV Collective Student Housing near Burbank Drive
A high-density multi-family student housing project with commercial space is proposed north of Burbank Drive near Milford Avenue. The commission recommended the rezoning; the Metro Council makes the final call.
St. Joseph's Academy Parking Expansion
The school got the green light for a new parking lot on Broussard Street, which should ease parking pressure but drew opposition from a nearby resident.
